MyContemporary

At the origin of my committment into contemporary art world are the artists. I was a young collector and I met some artists such as Paul Pagk or Damien Cabanes who pushed me to open a gallery. It was at the beggining of the nineties, we were all less or more thirty and we decided to go forward together. We were naive and enthousiastic, sharing different experiences we put in common to create the Eric Dupont gallery.

On one hand, I thing that there is nothing more important that keeping one’s eyes open, being able to dialogue and confront one’s own feeling to the works in progress ; on another hand a galerist has to be lucid and he is the idealy located to reassure the artist when he crosses a new period in his work or in his career. To be recognized and succesful needs a lot of supports, he has to be shown all over the world to meet new poeple succeptible to be passioned by his work. My role is to travel and bring my choices as a message : I defend a point of view on art, I do not follow the stream, I am trying to participate to his creation. I brings things from shadow to light, I am a “passeur”, a bridge. My role is to help people to analyse what is going on in contemporary art. How the artists I work with are able to be involved into the history of the shapes, how we can guess that, here, there is something strong growing and growing.
